Gilbert nourishes his work with his own multiracial heritage, a language rooted in his African, Asian and European background. Whatever the chosen format, we find solid stretches of color and Pop Art, the plastic language of comics, the freestyle figurative narration and gestures of Street Art, but also, looking deeper, the culture of ancestors and of Voodoo– in the features of his signature dog notably.
